Welcome to the Sparecraft documentation! This site serves as the hub for all information related to this modpack.
About
Sparecraft is the latest iteration in my 5 years of running Minecraft servers. The modpack is based on All The Mods 8, which is a 1.19.2 kitchen sink modpack with a bit of just about everything. On top of this, I add other requested mods and functionality that others and I would like to have.
The typical lifecycle of the modpack is one year, and until 2024, I have reset the server every summer for a new version of All The Mods. However, due to the shifting priorities of people, the current instance of Sparecraft will probably not be reset for some time. The idea is that people will have time to build up an advanced world without having to repeatedly put in the effort and hours to start from the bottom-up.
On a technical level, the Sparecraft server runs in a Docker container on a remote instance of Ubuntu 22.04 (hostname mrgutsy
) hosted by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The modpack is managed through a private GitHub repository, which both the client and server check for updates each time they start.
Some Q&A...
Why "Sparecraft"?
Uhh... "a few spare mods". That's definitely all, don't inquire further.
Why the chicken? And why is he eating waffles?
A Minecraft Denny's build was the focal point of the first Sparecraft, with waffles of course being the main menu item. Additionally, the thicken has been an iconic image and remains the Discord server icon. Thus: a fat chicken eating waffles.
Why do you need an entire website for this?
Because I apparently like to overcomplicate things and write things that no one will read.
